Agastya_ Sensorium & Movement of Mechanics
The Bio Discovery Centre: Sensorium & Movement of Mechanics is a biophilic learning space inspired by the natural intelligence of termite mounds. Set within a lush, biodiverse site, the organically shaped structures are designed to blend with the land—following its contours and integrating existing ecosystems.
Open, flexible interiors support life science exhibits and classrooms, while skylights, fluted roofs, and turbo ventilators bring in natural light and airflow. A capillary-based cooling system—using water bodies and terracotta pipes—passively cools the buildings, reducing mechanical dependence.
Biophilic principles shape every aspect of the design: tactile materials, playful circular windows, and constant visual and physical access to greenery create an environment where learning is deeply connected to nature.
More than a building, the centre is a living system—where architecture, ecology, and education come together to inspire curiosity and environmental awareness.
