Casa AUM
project narrative
Casa Aum, Ahmedabad, Gujarat
Crafted as an inward-looking home within the dense fabric of Ahmedabad, this residence draws from Moorish architectural language while remaining rooted in the climatic and cultural traditions of Gujarat’s desert regions.
The planning unfolds through shaded forecourts and transitional spaces, creating a gradual sense of pause and release. The layout is simple yet intentional, with the pooja and foyer anchoring key views, while upper levels house bedrooms at varying heights to add depth.
Materiality shapes the experience through textured walls, earthy finishes, and crafted details. Ogee arches, niches, and geometric patterns echo Moorish influences, while deep-set openings, pergolas, and verandahs respond to climate, forming a layered, climate-responsive home.
