Story
As a facility to an existing large hospital at Aurangabad, a blood bank was desired to be built named after the freedom fighter late Shri. Dattaji Bhale. The building apart from being blood bank is expected to serve to society as a center for propagating blood donation activities and also conduct training programs and exhibition on blood donation. With due respect to the great freedom fighter and the philosophy of the social work of the Hedgewar hospital, it was a great opportunity to design a strong context responsive building and to express the personality (of Shri. Dattaji Bhale) through Architecture.
Thus the building is designed to depict the personality of Late Shri. Dattaji Bhale. In response to the context like in case of two projects discussed earlier the plan of the blood bank is obeys the discipline of the cave plans at Ellora as regards to the scale of the building, the sequence of the spaces as you walk through them, the desired and qualitative control of the natural light to serve the routine activities of the blood bank. The presence of the natural light is placed hand in hand with almost all the activities. The heart of the place is called “An Inspiration Court” where the people often meet, share a cup of tea, the visitors talk, the demonstration are conducted.
This central large size court covered with a pyramid at the top tirelessly provides light in daytime- in the form of an inspiration to serve – and at night reflects five images of the yin-yang floor in the pyramid dark glasses roof while seen from a circular cutout of the inspiration court. The ground floor establishes a transparent dialogue and lets the relative of the patients and donors take a view of all the blood bank activities to gain confidence, while the first floor with its activities such as a conference room ,a library, a guest block, a meeting room, a lunch room etc. Offers a very intimate and personal relationship, Inside the ground floor is almost colorless, with uniform volume, transparent linear partitions, while the first floor is full of colors, with variety of volumes (such as pyramids skylights), curvilinear partitions to establish a smooth interesting movements. While the exterior form with grit plaster to the ground floor and a smooth white plaster for the first floor makes the building appear dwarf, scaled down to common man’s access, not fearfully imposing, one amongst us- type. The scale and the control on dimensions notionally suggest the building is load bearing thus firmly and deep rooted in the soil.

About the project
A residential building situated in a layout of plots with most of the houses around is built. The location of the house was a critical issue in design. The plot is situated in the corner of the layout with only 20 feet space available for its approach and its visibility from the street, since it was one of the few vacant plots of layout. Facing north the plot has an area of 3300 square feet
Story
The house is designed for a family of seven occupants, belonging to three generations. The design of house responds to its site situation and the restriction of the site to reveal itself within a restricted frame. It has various terraces and gardens over them. Overlooking an adjacent open space on east side it has multilevel terraces with gardens.
