The National War Memorial is in New Delhi, Delhi, India, located at India Gate Circle. It has been built to honor and remember soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces who fought in armed conflicts of independent India. The names of armed forces personnel killed during the armed conflicts with Pakistan and China as well as the 1961 War in Goa, Operation Pawan, and other operations such as Operation Rakshak are inscribed on the memorial walls in golden letters.
Proposal respects the strong symmetry of capital complex. Proposal enhances the quality of experience in terms of space and adds to value of Lutyen’s master plan. Proposal proudly resonates and honours the vision / dream of King George V as well of modern India of 21st century onwards.
Proposal is designed based on analogy of Lutyen’s Delhi which originally is result of responses to Indian traditional architecture.
On its realization the proposed war memorial will be adopted by PS family of various Lutyen’s buildings and it will be difficult for an on looker to associate with the time of its making.
