"a contemporary home with an ethnic feel"

This project was for one of the most jovial and down to earth clients. Having done a vast research before approaching us, they had a very clear picture of how they wanted their dream home to look.

The home with an open plan is set in two levels, with the living spaces flowing into each other and interspersed with landscaped courtyards and water bodies. The home has 4 bedrooms and a home theatre that opens out into a landscaped terrace.
Internal garden and waterbody with skylights is reminiscent of a traditional courtyard home. The double height spaces with tall windows and skylights provide a visual connect between both floors and to the garden outside at both levels

The lack of a large garden in the ground floor is compensated by a beautiful roof garden. This landscaped terrace with its glass inset Mangalore tile roof cover becomes a multi-functional space, either for a party, yoga or some quiet reading time…
The intended rustic feel of the house is witnessed from the exterior, with hand plastered surfaces interspersed with brick masonry and stone boulders, glass inset tile roofs, and wooden louvered windows

The client’s interest in the use of ethnic elements encouraged us to use the traditional old doors, columns and swings sourced from Chettinad region enhancing the theme of the house.

Materials like Jaisalmer marble for the flooring, teakwood windows, Bastar art installations lends an ethnic feel to the home.

All the design elements and the material selection blend harmoniously resulting in a home that the clients had always dreamed of…
